Marcus is the founder and owner of VBC Multisport. He is actively involved in the sport of triathlon as an athlete, coach, race director, and has been one of the leading forces in the growth and development of the sport at the collegiate level. Marcus is a founder of the West Coast Collegiate Triathlon Conference (WCCTC), which, at the time, was the first collegiate triathlon conference in the nation. As collegiate triathlon has continued to grow, the WCCTC has become the model for the emerging national conference system. Marcus currently works with the sport’s governing body, USA Triathlon, as the Western Region Collegiate Representative and is responsible for growth and development of the sport in California, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska.

While attending college at UCLA, Marcus founded the UCLA Triathlon Team in 2001 and served as its president until 2006, when he graduated at the top of his class with a Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering. He also founded the UCLA IronBruin Triathlon, a sprint-distance race currently in its 5th year. Marcus firmly believes in giving back to the community and through the IronBruin has supported organizations like the Challenged Athletes Foundation and the C-Different Foundation. Marcus is a USAT Certified Race Director and an assistant coach with UCLA Triathlon.

Marcus has been involved in endurance sports all his life. In high school he was a multitime provincial champion in the 1500m and 3000m running events, placing 4th in the Canadian National Championships in the 3000m. Marcus became involved in triathlon while attending college at UCLA. He is a multi-time Canadian National Championship podium finisher in his age group and competed with the Canadian National Team at the ITU Age Group World Championships in Hawaii. Marcus is also a Cat. 2 cyclist. In the future he hopes to complete an Ironman-distance triathlon and qualify for the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
